A few years ago I use to be vinyl fiend, back when the Sound Library was on Avenue A I would spend entire days crate-digging and hogging up the listening station till I get kicked out. The way vinyl sounds is second to none and lightyears away from the crappy Mp3 format which unfortunately dominates the listening experience these days. I’ve been on an anti-MP3 campaign for sometime now and have started focusing on my vinyl collection again. My campaign led me to Rock & Soul yesterday where I found a 7inch of Hawa’s D.A.N.C.E. cover, fresh. Producer Patchwork transforms this electro hit into a northern soul classic. We always hear people remake old songs but it’s always a special occasion when someone makes a new song vintage. If you like this sound check out the Dynamics, The Daptons, Shawn Lee & The Ping Pong Orchestra and of course anything by Mark Ronson, enjoy.
