Wale – 90210

And she throws’ up, whateva she eat, She leaves the bathroom with a nosebleed
A regular girl, celebrity dreams,
She is… 90210
She live her whole life, like T.V., She will do anything for every-thing,
A regular girl, celebrity dreams,
She is… 90210″
I’m not a girl so I’m not even going to pretend like I know what being a fake one is about. I’ve sat on this song for a while simply because Wale spends the entire time putting down the “90210″ lifestyle, whatever that’s supposed to mean. Regardless of the lyrics, I really like the production on this song. The track was produced by Marc Ronson and sounds more like something for Lily Allen than Wale. In fact, I think I would agree with these lyrics more if they were actually sung by Lily Allen. I mean I’m no expert but what girls and why they do it is just something I don’t think you can really understand unless you are one.
How can you fairly access something from the outside looking in? The majority of the time you’ll be wrong, you know what I mean? How could a mother fucker hate a nigga he never even met, he don’t even know. Shit, I think this rap shit is all peace.” – Jay-Z (1997, Lucky Me)

  1. I have to say Wale is probably one of my favourite artists out there now. He’s original, he’s catchy and he’s mostly unheard of outside of the blogsphere. I grew up around DC and he seemed to be DC’s number one thing to talk about with the people who knew; if you didn’t know well then, you weren’t worth talking too… Oh how I miss Washingtonian snobbery..

Anyways, it is a well produced track and not traditionally what I’d consider Wale. I’m beginning to think he’s about to really blow up and go mainstream. Let’s hope Wale doesn’t become the next ‘Kid Cudi’…
