Stars – Dead Hearts (LightsoverLA Remix)

You might know LightsoverLA from the ridiculously good Two Door Cinema remix we posted a while back. This time around I’m posting their remix of Stars’ Dead Hearts and man talk about  a perfect Monday morning song. The vocals on this track are mellow, relaxing and hopeful to ease back into the painful world of work but the drums are dub step inspired and banging to keep you energized and thinking of the come up.

Tell me everything that happened, tell me everything you saw.
They had lights inside their eyes, they had lights inside their eyes…

Amy Milan and Torquil Campbell sound like their eternal lovers on this track as they have a conversation about whatever strange encounter it sounds like Amy had. Given the album cover and title of The Five Ghost one would think Amy had a ghost encounter and Torquil was trying to find out who they were and what happened. However, the supernatural experience is something of a metaphor for a relationship that they are reflecting upon. The kids she’s referring to are themselves and she’s remembering how happy and exited they once were – they had lights inside their eyes. Comparing this old reflection of herself made her realize how unhappy she was and how all the love is pretty much gone – Dead Hearts.

I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don’t deceive me
It’s hard to know they’re out there
It’s hard to know that you still care

I could say it but you wont believe me
You say you do but you don’t deceive me
Dead hearts are everywhere”

The memory of what they once were raises questions but also brings back emotions they once knew possibly reviving the dead hearts. This is a fantastic song and the remix takes it over the top. Definately sit back when you have a break and relax to this one, enjoy.

  • Hi,

I didn’t find out how to contact you so here’s my question.
How did you get the progression bar in your Yahoo Media Player? I use it too but I can’t navigate through songs.
    Thanks, have a nice day.
