Bibio – K is for Kelson

Subject: Good Stuff for warming weather

That subject and a link to this song was the entirety of an email I got from my college buddy Will. The song he was talking about was Bibio’s K is for Kelson and  his brief description couldn’t be better. Eclectic is pretty much the only way to describe Stephen Wilkinson aka Bibio’s style. The muti-instrumentalists experimentation is fearless and his limitless imagination makes his latest album Mind Bokeh an exiting and unpredictable adventure very much worth the listen.

K is for Kelson is a summer anthem where a world of influences come together to create a feel good concoction perfect sunshine lounging. Rumor has it Bibio played all the instruments on the track, which is impressive considering Archtop, Jazz Guitar, Electric Bass guitar, Rhodes Electric Piano, Analogue Monophonic Synthesizer, Wine and Whisky Bottles filled with water, Various Shakers, Brandy Glass, Hand Claps, Chinese Silk Fan (as kick drum), Bermibau, Voice, Talk Box. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. My LA friends are basking in their 80 degree glory while NYC is only getting glimpses of nice weather right now. However, you put on a song like this and the world seems to light up. I’d love to stay and kick it some more but I’ve got some hotels and restaurants that want some music so I’ll have to cut it short, enjoy.
