Rostam – Wood 9-27 B

There are very few songs that do to me what this song does. Such a simple but important combination of sounds, and none could exist without their counterpart. It’s primarily instrumental, with the exception of the vocals that enter in the middle. I’ve never heard of Rostam before, but I did a little research and found out that he is the producer and keyboardist for Vampire Weekend.

I’m at the preliminary stages of the hectic chaos that is finals season, so it’s nice to hear a song that not only calms the soul, but also makes me happy. There are so many levels that build off one another in this song, and it really does wonders for one’s mood.

This song is best enjoyed on a good set of speakers or headphones. Again, I’m really into the levels of sound that build off one another here, and with a good set of headphones, it’s eternal bliss.
