Yeasayer – Longevity

live in the moment, never count on longevity ― please”

The Yeasayer crew shoots us all a very welcomed Public Music Announcement reminding each and every one of us that life is short.

Longevity, off their upcoming album ‘Fragrant World due out this August triumphs instantly with an array of well mixed syncopated synths that play rather well with the transfixing vocals, and are topped off with a chorus that’s simple and soothing on the ears.

The songs mood is an eclectic daydream that feels like a break-up or a love story that’s at the very last end of it’s final string.  The song fluctuates between a mellowed out plea and a rather frustrated, and rather boisterous storm of sounds to help illustrate a potentially tumultuous scenario.  Live in your moment and stop wondering about tomorrow, because counting on the Longevity of something means that you’re not making the best of it while it’s sitting right there in front of you now!  A moment wasted away thinking about the longevity of something, or a particular situation, is a moment gone by in which you have failed to appreciate it, and who wants to be in that kind of unappreciated relationship anyway?

Make sure you appreciate this psychedelic space ride to Mars by Yeasayer on a chilled-out sunny Summer afternoon, and remember to take their advice at the end of the ride which is simply to live in your “NOW” rather than clairvoyantly.
