Release The Beast – Breakwater

Sitting at The Standard in NYC’s Meat Packing District, and looking for that perfect breath of sonic inspiration to drive this Friday evening in with, I hit the first tune in our EMPT dropbox and am blessed with Friday Greatness courtesy of Breakwater!

Release The Beast is everything that my Friday night should represent.  It’s non-stop music going hard at all times, some funk, some rock and roll, and a whole lot of energy!  Released back before some of us were even born (circa 1980), it showcases some funky guitar riffs that never should quit, an intense symphony of bass lines intertwining and vibing to their own jam session, and those loud vocals that are attributed to helping make all of the biggest pop hits, well ― BIG ― pop ― hits.

Sometimes the week drives us mad with tons of things to do, places to go, and people to see, of course, so every once in a while it’s good to Release The Beast and just say: ‘fuck it! I’ve had a long day, I got a ton of shit done, and now I just want to go out and rage tonight as a reward for this long ass work week that I just so gloriously toppled!’

Just give it a little push
Go on, go let yourself get lose!
Take that funk inside of you
And make your body move!”

Release The Beast is that Friday song that will make you want to conquer the night and just rage all the way through, and even way after that fire alarm at the end goes off!

Everybody get up!”
