Tourism – City Never Sleeps

Tourism is a band, and a great one at that! The product of English born brothers Joe and James and their good friends Adrian and Ben, Tourism embodies all that is British with an undeniably Australian feel. Since forming in late 2010, Tourism has been kicking goals with a main stage show at Splendour in the Grass 2011, support shows with Snakadaktal and Faker and a debut single recorded with producer Stephen Schram (San Cisco – Awkward). Moving into the future, Tourism are set to release their debut EP and get out on the road to show Australia what the next big band sounds like. Keep your ears and eyes open for Tourism, coming to a town near you*.”

I had never heard of Tourism before but I always like discovering new fun bands.  It’s not always as exciting to talk about the musicians that you know so much about.  I woke up really early this morning and clicked on this track City Never Sleeps, and though I was still a bit lethargic from just waking up, I perked right up upon hearing the drums, the guitar and the tambourine all meshed into one fast pace, up beat Sunday morning perfection, pretty much the perfect healthy cup of coffee.  I always enjoy hearing bands that can bring all these sounds together so organically.  We tend to get caught up in all the computer magnificence that we have at our finger tips, that we forget about the true beauty of a real instrument in our hands.  I tend to have people asking me a lot if I play an instrument and my answer is always “well I used too”.  Damn I hate dishing out that answer, so this track definitely inspired me to get back on the band wagon again, NO EXCUSES!

I keep forgetting that it’s Labor Day weekend because I have been so engrossed in work stuff, but we can’t forget to let lose and have a little fun even if it means stepping outside for an hour or two.  If you are feeling sleepy from the past two nights press play on this baby because there are still two more beautiful days left in this weekend to be carefree, enjoy!
