Sitting at my desk on the 34th floor of this Midtown Manhattan high-rise this Monday morning, I stare out the large loft’s glass windows and bask in the skylines glory as the sun starts to peak out just over the east side. The traffic starts to increase in what seems like 15 minute intervals, both vehicular and people [traffic]. I go through my morning reads and find out that today, September 17th, 2012, marks the anniversary of last years Occupy Wall Street movement. The organizers have planned to celebrate by infiltrating the NYSE this morning again. Instantly, I think about how disappointing that entire movement felt to me when it allowed itself to dissipate into a far memory. I was never and would never be disappointed at anything revolutionary, but I felt that what they were originally selling was just the idea of a revolution rather than a true revolution itself. So this morning I thought about what I could do to help that movement, and I figured out that there was absolutely nothing that I could do. You see, I am a revolutionary born and bred from before birth, and as a revolutionary I understand that if you fear getting arrested in the same manner that you fear death, then you are not ready enough for a true revolution. In a true revolution the players have no fear of death, are tickled by imprisonment, and will fight until they cannot fight anymore. In a true revolution, there are no rules or laws to follow, it is a revolt for change, and the only thing that will stop the revolutionaries is that change they seek.
Anyway, this remix by DJ Spinna of Michael Jackson‘s “We’re Almost There” was a much welcomed and much embraced tune to have in our EMPT box this a.m. as it helped me wake up a little more today. It also provided a message to the true revolutionaries that are out in the reigns preparing for what’s to come, and quite simply, that message reads like this:
