Cardo — Ocean Water

What more can I say that isn’t already said on Cardo‘s Soundcloud page:

Cardo is the peerlessly funky young producer who has provided smoked out soundbeds for a literal Who’s Who of rap’s new generation. After helping craft Wiz Khalifa’s sound on the beloved Kush & OJ and Taylor Allderdice mixtapes, and lacing everyone from Freddie Gibbs to Mac Miller with his signature grooves, Cardo reaches new musical heights on his debut EP, Everything I$ Gold. It’s equal parts gangsta soul music, futuristic synthesizer trips, and unstoppable 808 bump, an awesomely region-less hybrid inspired by DJ Quik and Pimp C classics but rightfully belonging to one dude alone… Cardo on the beat!”

Cardo has great groove and it shows its face again all over “Ocean Water”.  I’m not too sure on what his whereabouts are these days, but if I had to guess, I’d say he’s holed up on the left coast somewhere, living very closely to a beach, and enjoying the serenity of it all day by day.

“Ocean Water” has no vocals but it really doesn’t need any.  It’s the type of beat that allows you to daydream about whatever it is you want to daydream about.  It’s soothing, super chilled-out, yet also vibrant in overtones.

I love yachts, I mean, who doesn’t right?, and ever since I found out that some genius out there made good money selling Music CD’s for Yachts, I’ve been wanting to do the same thing someday.  This, along with a few other instrumentals would definitely make the cut, although it would probably be 1 of 3 instrumentals at most on my ‘Yacht Music Playlist’.  It’s sexy to me in a way that isn’t arrogant or loud, which always seems to make things more beautiful in my eyes.

Anyway, enjoy the sounds that Cardo has so carefully curated for all of us here, and for which the title “Ocean Water” could not have been more perfect.
