I think the opposite. I think the cast did an okay job with an a few exception Lil Cease could have grown up a bit. While Ms Basset worked on keeping the accent . The cast was well picked on looks alone. I think Diddy did a good job of making himself look like the hungry fool. For the real life stories moving so fast in different directions I think the movie did an okay job of linking important events and people. I think viewers are looking for something so much more that its blinding them from seeing the artistic way they are trying to tell the story. The scenes where bigg’s in the booth recording and you can see the different vibes in the room from alternate angles… hot. The scene where Ms. Wallace is riding in the limo looking out to the real video footage of the fans in Brooklyn as Big takes his last trip home has great feeling. All in all I loved the movie, the cast, the story line, the cinematography was done the way it was to regenerate good memories. It made me remember when and why I fell in love with Hip Hop.
I’m a little late on the comment, but I think the movie was a success for Ms. Wallace. Overall, it was not a great movie, and certainly not what a Biggie “fan” was expecting. The acting was below average (I only liked Gravy as BIG and Faith), and the story was too vague to get a real understanding of who BIG was. If you are a fan of the music, this will come as somewhat of a surprise. It does not show you the BIG you may have thought you knew, but a very different side of BIG. I like the movie, because it is what I expected, but I do agree it could have been just for TV. Arguably though, we must remember “The Jackson: An American Dream” – the Jackson 5 movie was TV ONLY!!! (And it was a GREAT movie) So, Heck I can agree with what you are saying, but yes, a lot of people will “accept” this movie just because it’s BIG.
LOVING TRACK TWO
i wish track three was longerrrrrrrrr. I luvvvvvvvvvvvv it…………………

track ten i love youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu like ice cream and chocolate or sausage with fried onions.

Frank Sinatra had a small song, you’ve probably heard it – Fly Me To The Moon; of course you’ve heard it, everyone has.
I bet you also know “Fly Me To The Moon” is a remake of a 1954 song called “In Other Words” written by Bart Howard. Originally a slow and and waltzy number, arranger and producer Quincy Jones took the song, changed the time signature to 4/4 and gave it a hipper, more upbeat feeling. People remake songs, the music is reinvigorated and it becomes something for new generations to appreciate and call their own. And who knows, the people who hear the Tribe song may go out and seek the Lou Reed song and more good music gets spread, heard and loved. Everyone wins and you have good musique pour tous.

Fred Falke is an amazing producer and I love his music, but if I had to pick one French house producer at the moment it would have to be Lifelike. His sound is incredible.
This FF cover is sweet. I love Lykke Li, Youth Novels is def one of the best ageing albums of ‘08. I like both versions of Knocked Up, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that Lykke’s is better than the original.
i would just like everyone to know that the bag raiders mix of chromeo is a fake. it has been publicly stated by bag raiders themselves that they are unaware of any chromeo remix they have completed, i mean its pretty obvious, its a sub-standard mashup complete with virtual dj effects!
As I write, this posting has been “hearted” on hype machine nearly 400 times… which is probably enough to get it to #1 on the Hype Machine “most popular” chart. And this is AFTER they instigated new controls to make sure no-one cheats the system again.
I think that pretty much proves that Viking doesn’t need to cheat to get popularity ratings.
I think Hype Machine were just confused by Viking’s sudden popularity.
Yeah, it is decent sounding as a mashup, but I remember thinking the same thing when it first came out. It is super poorly put together, but some parts could mesh nicely, however the songs separately are better.
Yeah this is actually a repost. We got shut down about a month ago and have had to slowly repost all our content. I’ll make sure to note it in future post.
I guess you could interpret it that way but I don’t think it’s so far fetched to say that most people who grew up in the 90s (this websites demographic) would know that famous bass line from a Tribe Called Quest song.
I think this cover accomplishes what a cover should accomplish. It changes things not for the better or worse, but simply for the different. Commensurable but still different. Lovely voice! I found some other covers worth listening to here: http://yeahdevelop.wordpress.com/2009/07/28/hey-yo-hey-yo-hey-yo-hey-yo/
Unless I’m completely wrong, Peaches went on a mindless rant in an attempt to be indie and rebellious; I can’t stand that type of person.
The term “motherfucker” strikes me as a swearword meant to trash a man who slept with someone’s mother.
Whether the man raped the woman or had consensual sex is beside the point as fucking a mother is universally off limits because the woman is viewed as pure, proper, moral, and thus, unfuckable.
Fatherfucker probably wouldn’t get much wear and tear as very few women likely slept with married men when this term was created somewhere in, I’m guessing, England.
Furthermore, “motherfucker” is a term meant to solely insult men, similar to “son of a bitch,” meaning that males are the only vulnerable targets, sparing the females from criticism.
Yeah it’s just so much energy in this production. I don’t think it was officially released, shoot me an email – hector@etmusiquepourtous.com. I’ll send it to you.
I agree. This shouldn’t be taken literal, we should see where the line of separation between men and women is wearing thin. Girls are holding their own, and men and women are understanding each other more. I have my homeboys, but I also have my homegirls and I can relate to them just the same on many topics. Women are the new men… Good Post.
Eric Woolfson, songwriter of the alan parsons project is on facebook, and he just released a stupidly low priced Fan package including his newest album through his facebook store: http://bit.ly/paBwr If you are an APP fan you will definitely be interested in this!
Basically i’m just a producer trying to get people to listen to what i’ve got to show. The links to a 5 minute mash i did, just have a listen and have some fun! Thanksx
Very much like the chord progressions but the entire treatment smells too much like Justice, and that’s the smell of yesteryear’s worn out H&M clothing.
That’s not at all an unreleased track, that’s #5 of their Junior album, called « Royksopp Forever ». But it’s awesome, and you should absolutely get a copy of Junior.
Yeah this post is actually really old so when I wrote this it was still unreleased. That’s why I added the “P.S.” at the bottom, but yeah it’s a great track from a great album.
Seriously, I can’t believe these dudes will perform the same song and people will go crazy… This is the shit that people should be singing in NY… Fuc “Vans in the Sand”
No worries. We got shut down by our evil dark lord hosting company Gisol, Inc. Since then we've been re-posting some of our old stuff so it's a little confusing.

great track. This whole album is definitely worth checking out. I'm not quite as big of a fan of this one start to finish as his first release, but still real nice.
Its definitely a dance album, and in some cases I think he meant these songs more to be remixed than to be listened to on their own.
I agree completely with you on how the simplest, most straightforward lyrics are the best, it's so much more honest, and easier for people to relate to.

I found danger about 6 months ago and I cant get enough! Is there any one place to get all of his songs? Ican't find them except for one or two here and there, only know of two released EP's but there seem to be tons of unofficially released remixes… HELP!!!
I started listening to this today, and I definitely agree with you. At first it came off as bland and boring, but it definitely has grown on me.
However, as your Saturday post stated, this melancholic rap is becoming less and less original. I dare say it will soon become cliche. That being said, cliche or not, I still prefer this emotional side of hip hop to the materialistic gangster side.
Just my thoughts. Good album though. And great blog by the way. Its one of the few I have bookmarked.
wow, i've just sebastien tellier's new track 'L'amour et la Violence' remixed by Boys Noize.. it's a-ma-zing! check out the video on my blog… umstrum.com
Great post! The title of the blog/song caught my eye and after reading it, not having heard of SoKo before, I surfed the web and decided that I really like her stuff. If you enjoy her then you should check out … (Comment truncated for violation of site rules.)

im glad to finally see some CC up here!!! im a big fan of theirs and am waiting for them to come out with some new shit — althouhg their current inventory never gets old… i think the two you posted, along with vanished and crimewave, are their freshest tracks imo
Yeah I posted them before the blog got shut down. They've been in all sorts of legal trouble for sampling etc but we should be hearing some new material soon.

Well, we are all individuals.
In relationships and sex there is no “better”, ok there definitely is “bad”, but when it comes to “good” it actually depends a lot.
So it’s not unlikely that your so called “improvements” are something, the guy that’s now with your ex can’t even bear and he really would have liked her more the way she was before. So he probably could charge you?
And the reason why she’s not there with you anymore is because your “honesty” told her that she did almost everything wrong.
So with due respect to your honesty: it’s not black, it’s not white, it’s in the greys.
was hoping to catch them tonight at ATP in NY but missed them sadly and am waiting for them to get back from their international venues and play in the states again. air war and untrust us are great too
Astute.
However his last album (American Gangster) contained excellent lyricism, unfortunately this album seems to have expunged many elements of modern hip-hop.

Or a lot of people like The Twelves remix and you're having a hard time accepting that. I'm going to have to disagree with you and agree with the 1000+ people that made it number one. The remix isn't just great, it's pretty damn amazing.

i wasn't using twitter in 2006 or 2007. in fact, i've never even signed up. i find it superfluous.
but… HMJ, if you've signed up for twitter, i can "pretty much guarantee" (with 60% accuracy), that you aren't using it anymore.
Not sure who wrote this, but I honestly couldn't agree more. I'm 22, and I feel like we have everything at our fingertips at the moment.

She’s been at war with a guy called Bob Lefsetz whose pretty much just attacked the crap out of her for talking crap about the internet. She wrote him this email:
“I think your piece today is a little unfair. I’ve never said that I side with the majors. And as you state, the website lilyallenmusic.co.uk is an EMI owned website, which I don’t run. They own the copyrights of my songs, they can do what they like with them. You claim to have an in depth knowledge of the music industry, and if this is the case you’ve written a deliberately misleading article. I think that’s a little irresponsible. I’d appreciate an apology. I’m not a hypocrite music , I pay for music that I want to listen to. I don’t illegally download music and haven’t done for about 7 years. Maybe your just trying to get a reaction and for me to publicise your website. That won’t work. Besides It’s unauthorised file sharing that I have a problem with, not record companies giving away music as a promotional tool. you’re piece yesterday was mildly interesting, todays is insulting and I’ll be consulting my lawyers on the matter.”

She's only going to implode if she can't handle people talking bad about her or simply disagreeing with her on the interwebs. She's showing a lot of immaturity.

A really great album I also recently discovered and was hoping you'd post about soon. Glad you came around to them. I can't wait to see them in a few weeks. Also just wanted to say your blog's fantastic. The music's awesome, though I can't download sushi so I can't yet comment on the orgasmic black cod and kobe beef… Cheers!
Nice write up here. Very nice. I don't know how I feel about this Mark Ronson remix though. I've given it a bunch of listens and I still don't know…it's a good production and all, but I feel it takes too much away from the original. I overall feel and effect of the song gets lost in all those horns.

Yeah it was re-tagged at some point but still good so who cares.
I guess you could interpret it that way but I don’t think it’s so far fetched to say that most people who grew up in the 90s (this websites demographic) would know that famous bass line from a Tribe Called Quest song.
Old song or not, this is still remains amazingly hot & awesome!
You said it man…
Thanks, will have to fix soon.

I think this cover accomplishes what a cover should accomplish. It changes things not for the better or worse, but simply for the different. Commensurable but still different. Lovely voice! I found some other covers worth listening to here:

At least she sounds righteous.
All that bullshit being said, motherfucker might have meant “fuck my mother!”

I agree. This shouldn’t be taken literal, we should see where the line of separation between men and women is wearing thin. Girls are holding their own, and men and women are understanding each other more. I have my homeboys, but I also have my homegirls and I can relate to them just the same on many topics. Women are the new men… Good Post.

Yeah, this version is just the original tuned up 1 whole step which I’m assuming is because of a tempo change? I’m a little confused.

great track.

Thank you so much for this blog post

Astute.
However his last album (American Gangster) contained excellent lyricism, unfortunately this album seems to have expunged many elements of modern hip-hop.
If people know JayZ bites rhymes, why's he so popular? Even the media make a big deal of him. I think frauds should fall off in ignominy.
Well said. I had this conversation with a couple of friends and we came to the same conclusion.

I think the reason everyone talks about mainstream musicians as opposed to their music is that these big barrels of crazy are usually far more interesting than their generally terrible music. Personally, I would rather talk about how detached from reality Kanye West and Lil Mama are than listen to "Lipgloss" one more time.
Good point, I mean it is the entertainment business after all right.

Technology has lowered the playing field in such a way that we can create and distribute our thoughts and ideas in an unprecedented manner.
In addition, older generations still rely on archaic forms of communication, like billboards and bench ads. Thank you for posting your thoughts
about this topic. The goal of our website is to harness the creativity and drive of our peers to create something that is meaningful to us. It seems as though you have the same pursuit. Best of luck in the future, and please feel free to check out our site to see the kind of work we do. Great article.

Did you hear Lily Allen is getting out of the music business? Yep.
Looks like she’s getting pretty frustrated.

Nice write up here. Very nice. I don't know how I feel about this Mark Ronson remix though. I've given it a bunch of listens and I still don't know…it's a good production and all, but I feel it takes too much away from the original. I overall feel and effect of the song gets lost in all those horns.
Yeah I don't take it too serious which is why I just posted and didn't have much to say about it. Although it is a great track to just put on in the background.
I love your writing.
EVERYBODY KNOWS MIIKE SNOW PRODUCED BRITNEY SPEARS! EVERYONE! STOP!
Oh Steph Lund! Where is your October mix to start my month with excitement???
You do realise that they did not help produce, they are Miike Snow!
