Thirty two is far too early. It seems its a rock n’ roll thing to die at a young age, quite often between the decade age span of 25 to 35. As far as music goes, a daunting age is 27. Brian Jones, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin, amongst several others, all past away age 27. This is what some pop critics call the Forever 27 Club.
On a current note, this morning, actress/model Brittany Murphy passed on to greener pastures. EMPT would like to pay respects to this beautiful PYT, and send our love and pesame to her family and loved ones.
World Party covered David Bowie’s All The Young Dudes for Clueless, in which Brittany’s role is crucial to the epicness of the film. They got the chorus sounding spot on, but their guitar sounds and verses are far from bodacious. So we stand by Bowie and his version. The lyrics of the song touch upon the subject of death at a young age, as well as evoking the parallels of being young in the city or stuck in suburbia. So with no further ado, this goes out to her. And were back… I spent a very long weekend out in Nantucket hanging out in beaches and picnicking in pastures, so let’s just I’m not exactly thrilled about returning to the concrete jungle but so it goes. I’ve vowed to spend the entire summer next year far away from New York City so I’m posting a song which pretty much explains how I feel in when I’m on island and doing it my way…

One time super model, actress and Andy Warhol muse, one can help but wonder when or how Grace Jones ever found the time to actually be a recording artist. Yet she did, and she did it well. La Vie En Rose is one of my favorite songs of all time. It is overwhelmingly romantic, glamorous and dreamy. The album it appears on is called Island Life, a title which couldn’t be more appropriate for this song. The track is an instrumental till about 2 minutes into the song, a rare and risky production decision that couldn’t be more fitting. I’d have to say of all the trends sprouting up recently, my eye has the biggest affinity for Marrakesh Express or in more common parlance, Ali Baba Pants. Given how all my ex girlfriends have had considerably bohemian chic infused styles, my obsession with silk bedding and overall inclination to anything that reminds me of James Bond’s Octopussy, it’s no surprise I’d be attracted to the style.

Now there are some designs I’m seeing that I think the world could do without but overall this trend has grand potential. At it’s best this artistic clothing can look loose while remaining elegant and sexy; Comfortable and classy, perhaps even regal. I’d imagine achieving all these effects at once is not an easy task for a girl. I personally find many of my aesthetic desires being met when around beautiful girls in it – fresh. Overall a glamorous and inspiring style, let’s hope it’s not butchered before it reaches it’s potential. Here are some of my favorite designs.
