Frank Sinatra – It Was A Very Good Year

“When I was 17, it was a very good year. It was a very good year for small town girls and soft summer nights, we’d hide from the lights, on the village green, when I was 17…

“When I was 21, it was a very good year. It was a very good year for city girls who lived up the stair, with all that perfumed hair, and it came undone, when I was 21…”

Classic Sinatra.

Crystal Castles – 1991

Here’s some 8-Bit Gameboy sounding dance music for you. These guys are from Toronto, their self titled album was released in March of this year. Very nostalgic, innovative and cool sounding.

Thin Lizzy – Running Back

This Thin Lizzy classic always puts me in a good mood. You have to love Phil Lynott’s smooth, soulful voice.

“I never thought you’d go, till you did, believe me.”

Joan Jett – Bad Reputation

Here’s my favorite brunette Joan Jett with “Bad Reputation”, the rebel anthem.

“Oh no no no no no, not me me me me me.”

P.S. This song was used as the theme song for the greatest show about high school ever – “Freaks & Geeks.” For those into Judd Apatow & Seth Rogan (Superbad, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc), that’s the show they produced before people caught on to their humor. James Franco, Jason Segal, their all in it. Great show.

Johnny Cash – The Man Comes Around

Trying to describe this wouldn’t do it justice, just listen. Incredible production courtesy of the one and only Rick Rubin.

Classic.

Warning: Not safe for work.

This is like Justice’s “A Cross The Universe,” on crack. The track is by The Bloody Beetroots.

Rock & Roll anyone?

The Deadly Syndrome – Eucalyptus

I saw these guys out in LA a while back, they have an amazing live show, check them out if you haven’t.

This song is from their 2007 release, “The Ortolan.” What hooked me in was the vibe. Pretty good album too.

The Presets – Kicking & Screaming

This song makes me want to drive. Really really really fast.

Dance Punk at it’s best.

The Kills – Jewel Thief

I haven’t been a fan of their new stuff but thanks to shuffle on iTunes I ran into this song again. It’s from the “Fried My Little Brains – EP.”

Not much to say just a great song, enjoy.

Tupac – Nothing To Lose

“Rap music is the only form of vital music since punk.” – Kurt Cobain

While that statement would not apply in the present, songs like “Nothing to Lose” from 2 Pac’s 1997 “R U Still Down? (Remember Me)” LP are the reason why he said that. Everyone is so moderate these days, I miss the rebels. See the layers, try to understand people, try!
