Coeur De Pirate – Comme Des Enfants (Le Matos Andy Carmichael Remix)

This track is beautiful, intriguing, and full of experience.  Sometimes I have to listen to something a couple of times before I love it.  Sometimes I just skip to a new song if I am not caught in the first 20 seconds, but my attention was taken away by this gem upon the first 2 seconds.  I hadn’t heard of Coeur De Pirate (Pirate Heart), AKA Beatrice Martin, but I am glad I pretty fired up that I found her.  Her vocals are sweet and angelic, but somehow the sweet angelic sounds of her vocals mixed with the french language turn into something mature, but free, seductive, but innocent.  Make sense?  Who cares it’s too good to be overwhelmed by my equation of what makes this track great.

Le Matos Andy Carmichael took this fun indie pop track and gave it that electro feel that we crave here at EMPT and especially during the summer time.  Speeds it up in a rip off your sweater and expose that sexy dance creature kind of way.  I get a little carried away with my analogies of things sometimes but all this good music is making me musically drunk!

Inspiration comes from the things that you don’t always understand, this might be a language, a perspective, an emotion, a sign.  Inspiration doesn’t come from understanding everything.  “Comme Des Enfants”, (As Children I believe is the english translation), we aren’t scared that we don’t understand the world just yet, we never will, that’s what we have to remember as well grow up.

Hope everyone is enjoying the summer, press play and take it as you will, enjoy!

Bedouin Soundclash – Brutal Hearts (feat. Coeur De Pirate)

The weather in LA right now is amazing, every time I come out here I feel like staying for good but then I start missing the beat of the city so I know it’s short lived. I still might do it though if I can find an place that doesn’t my mind ridiculously annoying loud music.

Anyways, I was going to post something uptempo at first but then I realized it was Sunday so I decided on the Bedouin Soundclash collaboration with Coeur de Pirate called Brutal Hearts, and what a great Sunday song this is. The dark, sensual and very tasteful production of this track is so relaxing and puts you in a very nice chilled out mood. The song is a conversation between a guy and a girl who are trying to clear up any confusion before they sleep together. The guy is explaining to the girl that he’s not looking love and she’s telling him that she’s ok with that and just wants to have the night with him, how romantic.

Alright, the sun is out and I need to get to the poolside while I can, enjoy.

Le Miel du Mois by Steph Lund: Mars

Thanks for coming out tonight, you could have been anywhere in the world but your here with me! I appreciate that.”

It’s the first of the month and 2010 is looking better and better by the moment. February was a great month for EMPT, our following has never been stronger and our new company is only a few weeks away from launch (stay tuned). Maintaing EMPT is hard work and you barely get to take a break, that is until Steph sends me her latest masterpiece and I get to sit back and get it ready for release. After an entire month of work it’s sort of like dessert after a big meal, though when you’re dealing with Steph is more like dessert before dinner. Either way, this tape is yet another completely different and unique experience, LMDM will never get old, enjoy.

Le Miel du Mois: Mars:
March. Today marks 17 days until forthebeat is at sxsw and 20 days until the first day of spring, both can’t come soon enough. This mix aims to get you through the last few weeks of winter with your dancing shoes laced up tight to dance through the night (yes this was meant to rhyme). One of my favorite new artists is Coma Cinema, if you havent listened to the album yet, better get on it fast. Making Pitchfork’s forkcast last month, this band is about to be everywhere – “Flower Pills” debuted on LMDM last month, and this month brings you “Cop Caller.” The entire album Baby Prayers can be downloaded for free at www.comacinema.org – get. it. now.
Le Miel du Mois at work? That’s much better than work at work! Download

Coeur de Pirate – Comme des Enfants

Been following Béatrice Martin since she was a member of Bonjour Brumaire, but it was her solo project Coeur de Pirate that hooked me in. She’s been playing the piano since 3 and writing since ‘07. I can’t get enough of her voice and her songs are just as good. Comme des Enfants is one of the standouts from her debut album, Coeur de Pirate.
