Basic Translation

The Ye-Ye movement was emblematic of the French 60s. With singers such as France Gall, Francoise Hardy or Sylvie Vartan, they represented a musical style very French, beautiful, innocent and naive to a provocative manner. Gainsbourg (already) was behind a few of them and composed playfully lyrics for them. France Gall famously sang “Annie loves lollipops, aniseed lollipops, when the sweet liquid runs down Annie’s throat, she is in paradise” with a voice lovely of candor…

One of the lesser known artist of the Ye-Ye movement is Jacqueline Taieb. Born in Tunisia, she moved to France early and quickly became a singer. The song below was her first hit at only 19. Called “7am” it is the story of a young student waking up early (at 7am) and detailling her fascination for Paul McCartney who she wishes could help her complete her homework.

Here again, you will see the naive accent and – honestly – can you resist her when she sings Elvis Presley?

Kelley Polar est un ancien violoniste/compositeur classique qui a crée ce site internet et a commencer a crée de la musique Space age love. A dream in three parts est un des morceux de cet album, vraiment sorti de l’ordinaire, même si l’album ne manque pas de bons morceaux. Combinant toutes ses influences musicales, l’album est presque étrange (comme beaucoup de ses morceux précédants) mais cela dit très musical et engageant. La performance vocale peut sonner un peu fausse pour certains mais la projection des accords et les melodies nous font oublier ces petits défauts… Un des mes space age artistes favoris. Amusez-vous bien.
