EMPT Presents: Kitsuné Club Night – Mixed by Jorge Bonjour

As many of you know last night we were live @ Santos Party House in NYC with the French taste makers Kitsuné. Thanks to everyone that made it out, we look to do much more like that in the near future in both NYC and LA so stay tuned…

This morning I got an email from a French DJ/Producer named Jorge Bonjour telling me about a mix he wanted me to check out. He just moved to NYC and heard about our Club Night and made a mix using only the artists on the bill. Plastic Plates, Gigamesh, Computer Magic and Perseus in one mix, how could I say no? Turns out the kid Bonjour is pretty good. His mixes are clean, to the point and the tunes are of course right up our alley. We look forward to more from the new guy in town. In the spirit of the weekend, here’s an introduction to Jorge Bonjour and some music to get your pre-game soundtrack on point, enjoy.

Tracklisting:

Jeremy Glenn – New Life (Perseus ‘Summer of 83’ Remix)
Perseus – Running back 2 U
Gypsy and the Cat – Jona Vark (Plastic Plates Remix)
Citizens!- True Romance (Gigamesh Remix)
Plastic Plates – More Than Love
The Magician feat Jeppe – I Don’t Know What to Do (Plastic Plates Remix)

Grouplove – Colours

Today EMPT welcomes a new contributer from LA named Joel. The fellow music junkie is going to keep the EMPT crowed hip to the LA music scene and grace us with his musical taste which I might add is very EMPT, enjoy…

Since their solid debut EP release last summer, the LA based band, Grouplove, has surged onto the LA indie scene with vigor to claim it’s stake.  Their opening track “Colours” should satisfy your indie fix with energetic vocals that inspire sing-a-longs and foot stomping  even during your first helping. Their message is quick to shed off a vibe of fateful purpose and coming to terms with finding beauty in the unknown of aspects of life:

“So I am a man, man, man, man
Up, up in the air
And I float around, ’round, ’round this downtown
And know I shouldn’t care.
So when you see us there out in the open road
You don’t need to explain
If everything’s changed
Just know that you don’t know.

We call it… Life
Oh yeah, that’s what we call it.
We can’t call it at all.
We call it… Life”

Reminiscent of the no longer band, The Format, Grouplove is quick to shed off a sound that should resonate in many indie playlists for 2011 and thereafter once their first album drops. This band has established themselves on the west coast already and is ready to share their love on tour this spring to the rest of the world with another LA based band with Foster the People. Expect them to blow up after their gig at SXSW.
