Inspired by the mythical power of the full moon and the famous parties of Southeast Asia, MATTE’s Full Moon develops this narrative with New York’s distinct culture and edge – a transcendental beach party in the center of New York Harbor with sounds, art and food from a carefully curated lineup of musicians, DJs, artists, and chefs.

Full Moon 2013 is New York’s not-to-be-missed summer music event, blurring the line between festival and dance party. In 2012, Full Moon was attended by over 2,500 of New York’s finest and written up by titles such as Bullett Magazine, NY Mag and VICE.

This year, The Beach at Governors Island serves as an urban paradise for Full Moon – a sunset over the Statue of Liberty, a moonrise over Lower Manhattan.

Full Moon’s 2013 lineup will feature Miami Horror, Tanlines, Wild Belle, Cyril Hahn, Float Fall, The Knocks, Yuksek, & more.

Alright so this sounds Fu$%ing exciting right!? I know EMPT is gonna be there so everyone reading this better get your sexy Summer asses there as well.  Here is where you can purchase tickets and check out the facebook link for more info and inspiration!

Memory Tapes – Wait In The Dark (Jensen Sportag Remix)

There is something so inspiring about a one man band.  All you music maniacs know how hard it is to create music, the hours, blood and sweat that is put into it.  Dayve Hawk, whose alias is Memory Tapes does it all, every instrument, every sound and experimenting with different chords to produce an ultimate vibed out track.  Slap on a remix to this already vibrant track and you have magic.

Not only can we all agree on the sound but the lyrics are so resonant, poetic, with such a broad meaning. This isn’t just about love but about getting what you want when you want it and we are all very capable of this.  It’s manifesting and physically going for what your manifesting, we can’t always live in our heads.

But I want her to stay up for the whole night
And if we touch after I’m wake, you feel the mound, I never say
And I want her to stay up for the whole night,
This is it don’t make me wait,
This is it don’t make me wait,
This is it don’t make me wait, you’re saving up for tomorrow,
And I say it’s too late”

There is much to get organized here in NYC so I have to get going, but put this jam on and remember anything you want is possible all on your own, you are your own producer, dream big!

ENJOY

EMPT Presents – S U M M E R : a n t i – w i n t e r 3B by Ryan Radler

I think releasing Ryans mixtapes on Monday’s has completely altered my perception of this previously dreaded day. I don’t know about you guys but everything in my life revolves around music, it’s my bread & butter, my hobby,  basically all of the above. I love it so there are no complaints, however I’m a fan of music before anything but since I’m always behind the scenes I rarely get to play that role. That’s why these mixtapes are such a treat for me. Once a week, I get to totally kick back and just enjoy someone else’s work on and vision and that’s mastercard priceless to me. By now you all know these tapes are predictably amazing so I don’t have to sell it to you, just Ryan Radler mixing up styles and genres like clockwork. That said, I’m gonna order some grub and chill out for the entirety of this tape before getting back to work, a much needed break. Enjoy.

Tanlines – Real Life (Memory Tapes Remix)

The weather in New York City is absolutely horrid. It’s dark, cold, wet and plain ol’ dull. Desperate times like this call for a serious musical escapes which is why I’m posting the Memory Tapes tropically infused remix of Tanlines’ Real Life. Memory Tapes doesn’t stray too far from the original on this one but the changes he does make perfectly suit the songs heavily percussive sunset mood. As with all good tracks, the instrumental is nothing but a canvas to the lyrics that really give the song it’s meaning…

For a minute I was lost,
I looked out away
For a minute I was lost,
I looked out away.
I was looking for a home,
I was looking for a home.

Dealing with people from the past is tricky because they always have this memory of you that probably has little to nothing to do with the person you are in the present. Don’t get me wrong some people never change and it would be foolish to ever give them a clean slate. There are times however when change is genuine and letting go of the past is the right move. That’s what this song is about, trying to explain to someone that it’s a new beginning and whatever foolishness ruined the past is no longer around.

You might think I’m still that way,
It’s only natural
It was a past life thing,
It was a past life thing-
It wasn’t anything at all.

Alright, looks like I’ll have to keep this on repeat if I wanna battle these dreary conditions, enjoy.

Toro Y Moi – Low Shoulder

Unfortunately, we’re in the middle of a snow storm in NYC and there’s nothing pretty about it. Everything is closed so I can’t order delivery and since I don’t cook there’s no food in my apartment, these are rough times friends. As has become customary, my only answer for bad weather is good music so this morning I woke up looked out the window and immediately knew it was time to put Toro y Moi’s Causers of This on the turntable.

Chaz Bundick along with Washed Out, Neon Indian and Memory Tapes  is one the main ambassadors of the relatively new genre dubbed “chillwave”. While I could do without the cheesy name, I can’t get enough of the sound. The style is understated, relaxed, dreamy, musical and when you think of it totally out of touch with the the times, I love it. Toro y Moi’s music manages to embody pretty much every genre to come before it but innovates so much that it ends up feeling like something completely new. If you’re in NYC then you’re probably stuck at home working so kick back and enjoy.

You go where I was…”
