Kimbra – Settle Down (Polaris At Noon Remix)

I was listening to this in my car last night while driving to meet some friends in Santa Barbara for a show and I did one of those double takes at my stereo, like DAMN this beat has some kick.  This track is great on it’s own, I don’t know why I have been putting it off, but there is something even more special about it when its bumping on a really good sound system, you hear are the special little details that you might not have heard on your computer, and I live for those special little details in EVERYTHING! Kimbra floors me with her vocals, I am a sucker for a great vibrato, which some can make you cringe and some can bring tears to your eyes, this is what Kimbra’s voice does for me.  It’s a wonderful mixture of pop and folk that snags your interest because of how unique she sounds.

I wanna settle down
I wanna settle down
Won’t you settle down with me?
Settle down

We can settle at a table
A table for two
Won’t you wine and dine with me?
Settle down

I wanna raise a child
I wanna raise a child
Won’t you raise a child with me
Raise a child

We’ll call her Nebraska
Nebraska Jones
She’ll have your nose
Just so you know

I wanna settle down
I wanna settle down
Won’t you settle down with me?
Settle down

Run from Angela Vickers
I saw her with you
Monday morning small talking on the avenue
She’s got a fancy car
She wants to take you far
From the city lights and sounds deep into the dark

Star so light and star so bright
First star i see tonight!
Star so light and star so bright
Keep him by side!”

It’s never easy to find that one person you can settle down with, that one best friend who you can share the simplest moments with and have it be bliss.  What we are told about love from childhood and what we learn as adults is so much different but I think we should try to remember what we learn as children, how it all seems so simple, because we tend to get caught up in how difficult it is and then that’s when things go wrong.  I feel like that is the deeper meaning in these lyrics, just keep love simple and don’t over complicate.

This is a great track, the feeling and the lyrics, for this Fourth of July, which by the way is one of my favorite Holidays.  So grab some friends, family or a loved one and go the beach/backyard and don’t forget to blast this one on some good speakers, enjoy!
