I don’t know what to say about this track, some music just feels really good and digging to deep into it defeats the purpose. If fact that was the approach the New Jersey boys had toward their entire Sophmore LP Days…
If it takes all summer long/ Just to write one simple song/ There’s too much to focus on/ Clearly there is something wrong…”
We’re all guilty of worrying a little too much from time to time, and then there are those prophets of doom who see problem, worry and failure in everything. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, it ALL starts with in your mind and if you believe it it’s real. That can work in your favor or work against you so be careful of the thoughts you harbor. Anyways, beautiful music like this is a wonderful tool for keeping things in perspective, enjoy.
After a month hiatus of Le Miel du Mois is finally back with it’s latest installment and man does it feel good to say that. I saw all the comments and got the emails, I missed it as much as you guys but Steph was in the process of leaving New York for London and I can only imagine how busy she must have been.
The LMDM tapes always seem to take me on this joyful ride of reflection and movement, I guess that’s why so many of us have come depend on it to get our months started. It’s been a crazy two months around these parts, we’ve got more business then ever and it’s been quite the challenge to manage all of life’s offerings with equal care and attention. Not too long ago I would have felt overwhelmed right now but these days I’m all about welcoming challenges with open arms. When you want something you have to be willing to work for it, it takes discipline, constant adjustments and will but more importantly a perspective and understanding of process…
Flowers need water to grow, it gotta rain
And in order to experience joy you need pain
Every time a baby is born, somebody slain
You know the saying, somebody’s lose is another’s gain
The sun comes out when the water goes down the drain
When the rainbow in the cloud comes out we do it again…” Jay-Z (Gift & The Curse, Guns & Roses)
Anyways, this is another amazing tape completely in tune with the feeling of change offered by the season. So happy to have LMDM back, enjoy.
Its fall! The weather is perfect for some last minute solo strolls with this month’s LMDM. A lot of new artists included whose full EPs/albums are really worth the purchase. Be sure to check out more from Micachu & the Shapes, Ghostpoet, Breton, and 17 year old Zoo Kid. Also, some great new albums out including The Rapture, M83 and Real Estate, all of which have some new tracks included in the latest mix.’
Well it seems like the bigger this blog gets the more it becomes a target… The latest battle in the war between EMPT & The Industry is by far the most entertaining and while I can’t got into detail for legal reasons let’s just say I’ll be making some changes to the way music is played on this site to meet the establishment halfway, whatever. To all the creative people out there, don’t hold on to your ideas so tight that no one hears about it but make sure you have bulletproof protection cause greedy and lazy people will do whatever it takes to get a piece of your pie.
That said, listening to this months installment of Le Miel du Mois was a therapeutic experience. First of all, this tape is ridiculously good. I mean the way the music fits the mood of the city and the fall season right now is beyond words.
You crazy for this one Rick (Steph)! – Jay-Z (99 Problems)
Once again Steph drops a mixtape so unique in vibe and style that you have to immediately regard it as your favorite. I think the reason for that is how in tune they are with the general feeling of the times which is quite fresh and might I add not very easy to do. Alright, I’m actually going to go run this tape back for the 3rd time this morning. I can’t get enough, enjoy…
CMJ is the third week in October in New York City. forthebeat is putting on a show October 20th with Transparent and ABC News Amplified. EMPT will also be a part of the night, and we’re all really excited about our line-up. More details on that next week. This month’s mix includes new releases from some of my favorite new artists including Home Video, Kisses, Summer Camp and Wise Blood. Another special track on this mix is newcomers Aux Arc from Savannah, GA. Look out for their first EP later this year, tentatively titled “It’s Hard Swallowing A Novelty.”
