So I was at the W Hotel last week celebrating the announcement of their new musical director Michaelangelo L’Acqua who also happened to be the DJ for the event and let’s talk about good music cause this guy was on fire. As the night went on it seemed like every single song this guy played had been posted on EMPT! As I sat there sipping on the usual cognac Michaelangelo’s fantastic taste inspired this new greatest hits series which will be posted once a week till the end of the year. We’ve been around for over a year now and to all the friends we’ve had since day one: we love you and to all the new friends we’ve made along the way: we love you too. Here are some of our biggest hits and their original posts.

With the new year on the horizon I couldn’t think of a better song to get this series started then The Black Lips – Starting Over. This song was my new years anthem last year and I’ve yet to find a worthy replacement. I find that we look at the past so much in relation with what we want in the future which keeps you stuck somewhere in the middle, which does a lot and a little. My new thing is emptyness, everyone from the past is getting that new person treatment and the future is just going to have to manifest itself through all the day to day actions without too much thought invested in what’s not visible.

Lights Out is one of my favorite songs for one that one line in the hook that just hits me every single time:

Darling, you don’t have to worry your locked in tight.”

I feel like people have so much doubt in relationships and sometimes it can be justified but you can’t really build with doubt in the background so how do you get someone to lose those fears? Well first and foremost you have to show them that you’re sincere but sometimes saying it is important too. Somehow that line just sounds like the ultimate sign of respect and care – “You don’t have to worry your locked in tight.”

I spent my childhood traveling around the world as a member of the Boys Choir of Harlem so when I heard this line I had one of those moments when you just feel like someone relates to you in a nearly creepy way. Our conductor use to have these epic and draining rehearsals before concerts and I never really understood the point until I got more in touch with the audience during shows and felt the energy they gave back when we did well, to this day it’s one of the greatest feelings I’ve had. So what can I say, I’m a just and entertainer, I’ll work day and night to make sure you guys get the best possible experience when you come check out EMPT… “‘Cause I know I’ll get it back. That settled I went on to do some shopping on the iTunes-France store and found a gem of an album I have to tell you guys about. It’s a compilation CD called Ever Better and it bangs. I was really drawn in by a Danger and Data remix but it’s album only so I purchased the whole thing but I have no regrets, this is worth the money. Here are a few of my favorites, enjoy.
