Munk – Violent Love (The Twelves Remix)

It’s been a while since the Twelves dropped a remix and it was starting to be a problem. Well, the wait is over and the boys are back with a remix of Munks Violent Love and it’s well worth the anticipation. I have to say though, the original version of Violent Love is already pretty damn good but being the talented producer they are The Twelves made the dance floor translations. If you’re a DJ, musician, artists of any kind and you’re loved one hates how much time you spend trying to hone your craft watch the video…

You may not know the name Munk but if you’re into the party scene you’ve definitely heard him. His dark and sexy dance single La Musica is a DJ favorite and is in heavy rotation internationally. I’ve got a lot of deadlines to meet today so I’m gonna cut this one short but a new Twelves song? I can’t think of a better way to get ready for the weekend, enjoy.

Yelle – Ce Jeu (The Twelves Remix)

It’s Wednesday already!? Damn, looks like time is starting to fly again which means it’s more important than ever to stay in the absolute present if you want to slow things down. I was on a Twelves binge this morning and realized I never posted their remix of Yelle’s Ce Jeu and that’s just wrong. You already know the production is going to be phenomenal so just add this to your party playlist and get on with your dancing.

I’ve always been fond of the lyrics to this song which are about the repetitive nature of games some people like to play in relationships…

Tu repars c’est ça
Toujours le même schéma
Et j’anticipe a chaques foi”

These fine citizens get a kick out of manipulation and control in relationships, I’ve never had enough time in the day to explore the topic but it doesn’t exactly sound like a night out to me. In the song Yelle tells her love that she is well aware of the game and confesses how she actually enjoys both the playing and being played – more power to you girl.

Et j’aime en faire autant
Nous sommes tout deux victime
De ce doux jeu d’amants”

Alright, much to do but press play on this jam and give this morning a much needed dose of feel good, enjoy.

You see through, that’s why nobody never gon’ believe you…” – Jadakiss (1998, It’s All about the Benjamins)

Two Door Cinema Club – Something Good Can Work (The Twelves Remix)

It’s been far too long since we posted a Twelves track but the moment is upon us. This time around the Brazilians remix TDCC’s Something Good Can Work and as usual it’s fantastic. The Twelves call themselves Rio de Janeiro’s answer to Daft Punk and I wouldn’t disagree. These guys are as good as they come in terms of production skills and they can transform pretty much anything into a better dance track. I saw them lay down an incredible set at Webster hall last year and couldn’t get over the incredible taste and sense of timing they displayed. They have a show at Santo’s Party House on April 29th and I highly recommend it. Anyways, the second Noctambule party is tonight and I have a million things to do to get ready. Last time was beyond a blast and we expect even more from this one, hope to see you there. Enjoy.

Le Miel du Mois by Steph Lund: The Lost Tape

With high expectations, rebel citizens of the millennial generation leave the tired and corporate ruled world of radio to begin a new life in music blogs…

Raid the radio!
Cause we’re tired of hearing the same old song.
We’re gonna change the dial to something new.
Bring some truth to this town.” – General Electriks

However, the Recording Industry of America gains great military powers and soon ceases control of one music blog after another, in the name of justice and peace.

The year is 2009, the space age. In a move to counter The Industries tyranny, rebel citizens of the Et Musique Pour Tous faction scheme to bring new arsenals to the earth disguising them as mixtapes. Made to introduce innovative and traditionally oppressed styles of art and music to the world, these tapes created a problem for The Industry taking away radio spins from the likes of elemental pawns Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. However, leaders of the powerful and corrupt hosting giant Gisol Incorporated catch on to this operation and in a merciless act to maintain power destroy EMPT and any traces of these mixtapes. Once again forced into the underground, EMPT forges an alliance with a small but powerful hosting company to rebuild and continue distribution of the mixtapes. As the revolution continues the tapes have gained great popularity around the world with more and more oppressed citizens finding new ways of expression and artistic appreciation. On 1.18.2010, EMPT released The Lost Tape, the first of the series destroyed by The Industry. The release is meant to symbolize the struggle and success of the continuing revolution. The second act has just begun, we’ll be busy…

Let’s see which course the future will take. It’s up to the people whether our plans to reform will succeed, that’ll decide the future…”

French Horn Rebellion – Beaches and Friends (Hey Champ Remix)

Whose diabolical idea was it to have the best day of the week precede the lamest? There’s something fundamentally wrong about waking up and doing anything other than what your heart desires. Look at it this way, on average we spend 23 years and 4 months or a third of our lifetime sleeping and 20 years working! I mean it surprises me that people don’t take the subject more seriously. I know it’s not the same for everyone but I’ve always felt I could do things much more efficiently if it were on my terms and I’ve never really needed a boss or structure to get things done. Can you tell I have issues with the institution?

Was born to dictate, never follow orders
Di$@face, get your shit straight, f*&k@ this is Big Jay” – Jay-Z (2001, U Don’t Know)

Thankfully there’s music to numb the pains of being pure at heart. This time around it’s a Hey Champ remix I ran into while checking up on The Twelves. Hey Champ remixes whatever they want whenever they want and they do it well. Less talking, more listening, enjoy.

The Virgins – Rich Girls (Twelves Remix)

So I went down to the New Rome clothing 2009 release party at Santos and pretty much the only good song the first DJ played was the Twelves Remix of Rich Girls. Great party, very cool shirts but the DJ left me wanting more. Anyways, we posted the original version of this song a while back so I figured it was a good time to give some updates. Here’s Twelves Remix of the song, by far the best. I’ve seen a bunch of remixes but no covers, I still prefer the original to the Little Boots version but kudos to Vicky for bringing us the female perspective, enjoy.

Metric – Help I’m Alive (The Twelves Remix)

Collectively known as The Twelves, Brazilian electro-house João Miguel and Luciano Oliveira have become one of the most sought out duos in the industry. Their production decisions are right up there with the best, often opting for the simple and groove heavy instead of  the common overproduction and clutter.  Some blogs who shall remain nameless compare them to Daft Punk, “Do you fools listen to music or do you just skim through it?” While they may have said that as a compliment I think it just doens’t make sense, sometimes people compare just to compare. These guys truly have the midas touch, enjoy.

Daft Punk – Nightvision (The Twelves Cover)

So I’ve been a little bored of the new stuff lately and as I was just about to head back into the comfort of the past for today’s post I got an email from Steph Lund (Le Miel du Mois) telling me to check out the latest from The Twelves. As usual, they nail the remix/cover and while not as hype as most their works, it completely holds up in quality.  If you haven’t heard of The Twelves by now I highly recommened going to town on google and checking them out. They are an extremely gifted production duo from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with a nack for making some of the best remixes you’ll hear. I skipped the A-Ha remix they did because it was getting blogged about too much but I’ll use this new song as an excuse to post it because it’s pretty damn good. Enjoy.
