Alright I’m back from the Dominican Republic and I’m full if inspiration. The guy who hosted us down there is named Salomon and I can’t express to you how amazing it is to talk to someone who goes above and beyond to bring something new to the table. Despite being in the Caribbean, the musical nightlife in DR is pretty similar to ours here – Top 40. The difference in NYC is that if you’re looking for something new, chances are you can go somewhere to find it. In DR, there is very little diversification and no one misses it because they don’t know they have options in the first place. That’s where these dudes come in, they’re a traveled and cultured bunch hip to the fact that music has more to offer and they’ve taken the initiative to introduce it to the country. We’re all about breaking barriers and bringing everything to everyone, that’s why this site is called Et Musique Pour Tous and that’s why we like their movement. These guys are doing it in DR with some serious style and I have to tip my hat off to them.
Now on to todays post… We first heard about Aussie’s Tim & Jean’s back in April with the release of their super catchy Come Around. These young bloods are great writers, their sound is light, full of feel good and perfect for these hot summer days. There’s been a trend happening in nu-disco where producers just fill up their tracks with all sorts of percussion and rhythms, creating this tropical dance vibe that’s impossible to resist. A couple of months ago Jump Jump Dance Dance released a remix of Tim & Jeans I Can Show You that’s right up that alley. JJDD produced this jam to perfection, the bass line is funky and the arrangement develops around the vocals masterfully. Next time I’m in DR I’ll be playing a few pool & beach parties and you can bet your best buck this will be on heavy rotation. Alright I’m getting a bunch of work done to my apartment so I gotta go surveil these construction worker to make sure they don’t f$(k shtzz up, enjoy.
