If you ask me the psychedelic, art and glam rock movements contributed to many aspects of music that people don’t really recognize. Musically these guys pushed and explored without boundaries which pissed off a lot of people but ultimately led to some amazing discoveries. However, I think the my favorite contribution from these movements was how they helped change the perspective of what was considered “acceptable” subject matter for a song. Traditionally, lyrical themes were pretty much about love, poverty and partying. The Psychedelic rock movements introduced songs with philosophical themes, about literature, science fiction, futurism to name a few. I don’t really have a preference for these types of songs mainly because I don’t believe in strict preference but I think anything that helps expand forms of expression is a good thing. That said, here’s another gem from the Ever Better compilation I talked about a few weeks ago. This songs intergalactic theme is yet another metaphor for leaving the pity problems for the higher understanding, the galaxy, enjoy.
