Data – Rapture (Edwin Van Cleef Remix)

“I’ve been walking in the rain again
Too bad for the record we were never friends
I want you with your back up against the wall
I want you in the hallways at the shopping mall..”

Anyone that’s ever had one of those intensely sexual relationships will probably have some serious flashbacks reading those last two lines. Sebastien Grainger, ex-singer of the now defunct band Death From Above 1979, sings about a girl who brings him this intense pleasure but never really opens up otherwise. My advice to any dude dealing with that:

From a young G’s perspective… You never know she could be earnin’ her man,
And learnin’ her man, and at the same time burnin’ her man..” Snoop Dogg (1992)

What Sebastien is neglecting is the fact that you can’t cage a bird and expect it to be happy. Your selfish ways might work for a little but it’s only a matter of time before that free spirit feels the urge to get out. In terms of friendship, intense romance and equally strong friendship seems to be a rare occurrence and that seems to bother a lot of people. I find it just fine because it’s that very difference that makes it special. Plus, when it’s serious it’s serious and when it’s fun it’s fun. Anyways, this is all too complicated and requires looking at yourself from the outside which is no fun for most people so for now just listen to the song and enjoy.
