There’s a million things happening today and I can barely sit still to write but it’s Friday and I had post a little something to light up those pre-games. London’s mystery duo Monarchy released this funky love song last year and along with it came a barrage of great remixes by Holy Ghost, Treasure Fingers and Benny Bennasi to name a few. All are good but the Treasure Fingers is strictly made for the dance floor which makes it my favorite of the bunch.
The song is about a dude experiencing a good but overwhelming love that’s taking over his mind. In the hook he pleads for the emotions to go away while cleverly using double meaning to admit that he still likes it.
Love get out of my way get out of my way, Get out of my way Love what you doing to me…
I have a love hate relationship with those lyrics. I love it because I’ve been there before and I hate it because there are better ways to deal with those emotions. The truth is most of us have been in this situation before, when you want to move on from something but can’t because of mixed emotions, comfort, feelings and the past etc. In the end everything works out but theres always that complicated in between time that leaves you feeling funny. In these situations it is especially important to know what you want, express yourself honestly and respect the person you’re dealing with. I know that’s easier said than done and the person you’re dealing with may not want to hear it but holding feelings inside or leading people on is what makes love overwhelming. If your straight up with people you’ll never do something silly like pushing away a friend or loved on. On top of that you could build on your love, friendship or whatever on better terms. Anyways, gotta run to a meeting but I wanted to get that one up for your after work entertainment, enjoy.
