I was in a writing session last night and the topic of insincerity came up. Specifically about people who sell inferior products and go on living life like they didn’t just commit the ultimate violation. Perhaps to a fault, I’ve never been ok with making mediocre products and selling it to people as great. I know I can do it, shit anyone with half a brain and some charm can sell, but at the end of the day I just don’t feel right and it eats up me up. I’m not a salesman. Yet for some the goal of the game is not what’s being offered but what they’re getting in return for it. When that’s the case some people will do, say or sell anything to get results, even if the product isn’t as good as it could be. Like the title of this song says…
Como puedes vivir con tigo mismo? How can you live with yourself?
Don’t get me wrong, no one loves the big show, selling and performing more than me but I still believe in artistic integrity. Thank the universe for the late great Steve Jobs, for showing everyone that success and artistic integrity are not independent. Some morally twisted moron of a businessman must have manipulated the world into believing the only way to make large scale profit is to compromise and be cheap in your offerings. At $600 a share and growing I think Apple is shedding light on that idiotic, cancer to the cultural, aesthetic and artistic growth of the mankind mentality.
Anyways, I love it when music addresses complex societal issues behind a grooving feel good beat. With How Can You Live With Youself? Chilian artists Alex Anwandter does that to perfection. The track is infectious, it makes you think, it makes you feel good and most importantly it makes you want to move. My kind of track for the weekend, enjoy.
