Due to the follies of aging, I don’t typically listen to bang0rs these days, but when I do…they’re by Russ Chimes. The London-based maestro recently released another dancefloor chafer in the mold (but not moldy) of all his previous top notch, refined originals and remixes. Chimes tossed his patented flow all over “Back 2 You,” a succulent blend of synth and bass that weaves in and out, combining lush buildups with gentle drops, as is Chimes tradition.
And it’s a splendid tradition. Chimes makes music designed for open roads and blue skies, when you want to push down on the pedal, spin those windows down, and never let go. It’s energetic yet breezy, the type of music that gets your blood-flowing and your mind relaxed simultaneously. It’s “Expressway Music.”
“Back 2 You” has Friday written all over it. Upbeat, carefree, and smooth–it’s how you should operate during any proper weekend.
Bonus:
If you’ve never seen the video for Chimes’ Midnight Club EP, take 16 minutes out of your day to watch this work of art, that blends sound, art, and story-telling in a pretty brilliant way.
