For me, this week has been all about powerful female vocals and sexy women. On accident, I’ve come across several female artists with impressive talents and styles far too fly for me to handle. Amongst the masses, Lianne La Havas managed to stand out like no other.
Waste all your time writing love songs but you don’t love me All too familiar when it feels wrong I think you’re just lonely. Do you mind? I found another way to look at Use your time to pack away Your every verse and every line.”
Whenever I hear a beautiful lady singing about broken hearts, I get a little weepy. Even though the premise of this song is poppy, musically, the entire track is sung in minor keys. My heart aches for her heartaches. But she sings about it in such a coy way, rather than short staccato verses and notes, she elongates words. Specifically, words that are most relevant to her subjects: forget, heart, pack away, etc. So much lives in the past, in the rearview mirror, and Lianne tells us in a very real way that we can move on. Forget about it.
I wanted to save this for Thursday, but it’s too good and I know ya’ll need that mid-week pick-me-up. Enjoy this beautiful voice and sound on this truly gorgeous day!
