If I were to ask someone to write an international anthem, it would probably involve every entity involved in this track. Hailing from Paris and Toronto respectively, Martin Solveig and Dragonette released Hello way back when in 2010. It was a pretty big deal if you ask me because it was featured both in a Trident commercial and in episodes of The Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl. More importantly it charted as a top ten hit in ten countries.
After several tumbles in the remix revolution, these Australian boys got a hold of it and worked some down under magic. The 14th Minute is a pair of bow tie-sporting twins, Matthew and Pat Stewart. Hitting the Aussie charts early, the two have built a distinct brand of nu disco now favored in clubs worldwide. Enter Steve Frank. An artisan of bootlegs and mashups, Frank‘s heavier house sound meets naturally with The 14th Minute’s electro-disco flair. Frank has worked extensively with the twins, and their familiarity really shines on Hello. Martina Sorbara‘s vocals are naturally innocent, though a mischievous edge runs throughout and strikes with each beat drop in the song.
I’m exhausted from all the international collaboration conversation. Play this song and introduce yourself.
