For whatever reason I’ve been feeling a little bit like The Bride from Kill Bill this week. I feel confident in a I-don’t-give-two-#$%*s kind of way and my soundtrack has been a solid reflection of that. No matter who you are, walking around the city to some gritty tunes automatically gives you a certain air of badass-ness. Your head’s held a little higher, your walk becomes a strut, and you don’t look anywhere but straight ahead of you. You don’t move for other people, other people move for you. Perhaps it’s the way the wobbling guitars and smokey vocals creep below your skin and infect your bloodstream for 3 minutes or so. It’s raw and uninhibited; two things not many of us can be day-to-day.
This track I’ve got for y’all right here comes to us from Washington D.C. threesome Misun. It’s a departure from their debut EP, The Sea, which had a lighter aesthetic to it. I’m not complaining, though. From the opening kick-drum beat and synth to the whiskey soaked voice of Misun Wojcik this track oozes a filthy confidence. The guitars that hover in the background amp up the sex appeal of the track and give it a Coyote Ugly feel. It’s got me itching for a strong drink at some dive bar in Alphabet City right now. “Sharpshooter” is your perfect Thursday night companion to take the edge of the week off while starting your weekend. Here’s to something a little different. Here’s to finding that inner sharpshooter confidence in ya this weekend.
