Laarsen – Would U

This is space-age dancefloor music for a club that’s slowly rotating through the solar system and beyond – think Mass Effect’s Afterlife, minus the tongue in cheek and up the sleek. The album artwork’s glitchy visuals would be a fitting backdrop while different extraterrestrial species get the fuck down as strobe lights permeate the room and “Would U” carves out an audible groove into the eardrums of its listeners.

Its roots are firmly grounded in UK garage and breakbeats, but Laarsen’s debut single immediately inspires intergalactic possibilities. The track is utterly polished and crisp as each synth slices through the atmosphere and each percussive hit resonates with precision. As each expertly calculated second passes, “Would U” further establishes a potent pattern that conjures up a hypnotic experience. Good luck not getting lost in this release’s essence.
