Noctambule – Cinco de Mayo

That’s right fool, it’s Cinco de Mayo and you know very well what that P.Y.T. up there means in our language – we’re having a party. The weather is amazing, the RSVPs are through the roof, the margaritas will be flowing soon and the night is set to be epic. If you have’t RSVP’d yet go ahead and do it so you can get the password, it’s going to be a full house and I don’t want anyone to have trouble getting in. On another note, tomorrow I’ll be announcing my new company for which we’ll be having a launch party next week but more on that later.

Noctambule
The Eldridge – 247 Essex (btw Stanton & Houston)
RSVP to Noctambule@etmusiquepourtous.com

Pretty much the only music I like to listen to on days like this is MJ but we’ve all heard that a million times so I thought why not just post some MJ inspired music. While a million songs will fit that category here are two of my favorites. The first is the Idjut Boys’ remix of Lindstrom & Christabelle’s Baby Can’t Stop. Want MJ without Quiny Jones or MJ, listen to this track. It’s got the horns, the guitars, the pads, the works. Of course you won’t get that big Bruce Sweden sound but the energy and life is there so the vibe will still be right. Second is Drixxxe’s Remix of Data’s One In A Million. The first you’ll notice is the Wanna Be Starting Something in the bass and rhythm section. Some people might see the inspiration as something negative but I love it. Anyways, I have a million things to do to make sure this party rocks correctly so I’ll have to cut it short but stop by The Eldridge and say hi, I’ll be at the table next to the DJ’s, enjoy.

Data – Rapture (Edwin Van Cleef Remix)

“I’ve been walking in the rain again
Too bad for the record we were never friends
I want you with your back up against the wall
I want you in the hallways at the shopping mall..”

Anyone that’s ever had one of those intensely sexual relationships will probably have some serious flashbacks reading those last two lines. Sebastien Grainger, ex-singer of the now defunct band Death From Above 1979, sings about a girl who brings him this intense pleasure but never really opens up otherwise. My advice to any dude dealing with that:

From a young G’s perspective… You never know she could be earnin’ her man,
And learnin’ her man, and at the same time burnin’ her man..” Snoop Dogg (1992)

What Sebastien is neglecting is the fact that you can’t cage a bird and expect it to be happy. Your selfish ways might work for a little but it’s only a matter of time before that free spirit feels the urge to get out. In terms of friendship, intense romance and equally strong friendship seems to be a rare occurrence and that seems to bother a lot of people. I find it just fine because it’s that very difference that makes it special. Plus, when it’s serious it’s serious and when it’s fun it’s fun. Anyways, this is all too complicated and requires looking at yourself from the outside which is no fun for most people so for now just listen to the song and enjoy.

DSL – Stupid Bitches (DatA Remix)

French record label Ekleroshock is home to two of the meanest and badest producers around right now, DatA and Danger. While DatA has mastered the classic French dance sound, Danger is more on the fantasy/darkside of things, giving us a new style Electro heavily influenced by cinema and the everything 80’s, fresh.. The bottom line is that they’ve both have been making extremely high quality dance music for a while and it’s only a matter of time before they hit that glorious tipping point. If you haven’t heard their work yet check out the Ever Better post or the DatA remix of La Roux’s I’m Not Your Toy, all amazing.

Back when Ed Banger was sending me a copies of all their releases I got the original version of DSL’s Stupid Bitches which to say the least left me wanting for more. The song is somewhat silly to begin with and the production just wasn’t living up to the whole boys mad at girls theme. Then came along the DatA remix and the song took on a whole new energy and excitement. Makes you wonder how many songs could be made better with a remix… Anyways, much to do today so I can’t stay and chat but check out this song and behold the power of the producer, enjoy.

La Roux – I’m Not Your Toy (Data Remix)

I was at at a party last night and the DJ dropped this track at one of the most clutch moments in dance floor history. He had already played a few good ones and if he played one more it was going to be official – the music was fresh. I was happy, the girls were happy = good party. I’m not much of a dancer and even a pretty girl has a hard time getting my interest if the music is off, but give me a good song and a P.Y.T. and I’ll be a Jabbawockee for however long the DJ can keep the place rocking.

I’ve managed to come this far without posting a La Roux song despite the new album and overwhelming hype it’s getting in the blogosphere but I was inspired so here the remix I heard last night by Data, enjoy.
