Molly Moore – Third Eye High

Molly Moore has been on a hot streak with her past two singles so I couldn’t be more excited about the premise of an EP from the Los Angeles songstress. With two brand new tracks, it’s a release that shows off all of her various strengths across various genre lines as seen by the smokey r&b and celebratory indie pop of its first looks. The back half of the EP is without a doubt my favorite of the bunch, though, as it finds her taking her sound to a completely new level. First and foremost, “Catch and Release” is an easy, breezy, beautiful flow of carefree vibes that feels like being whisked away into the warmth of the coastal sun with all of its rays shining down. As for “Lighten Up”, it’s pure pop goodness that fuses all of her talents into one final product…the bouncy, hip-hop propellant of a hook, the airy yet totally swagged out vocals, it all just works.

As if Molly’s work wasn’t phenomenal enough in its own right, she’s also crushing with a new Cosmos & Creature single more grounded in the electronic realm. She’s such a versatile artist and the ability to release multiple projects at a time that all sound fresh is a serious testament to the talent she carries. Across the board, it’s music that I’ll be playing with the volume up high this summer with no plans in sight of turning it down. Here’s to all the memories her Third Eye High EP will soundtrack in the near future.

Molly Moore – No Stress

No stress…I wish I was experiencing that sensation right now. Life has thrown some interesting curveballs lately, all of which has culminated in notable anxiety, but I’m working through it with tools at my disposal. I’ve practiced meditation, written about my thoughts, and attempted to maintain daily contact with a spiritual force higher than myself. It’s impossible to deal with these feelings purely through thought since that becomes a cyclical process where I’m having dialogue with the source of my problems. Thus, I look outward and reach my hand toward the universe with confidence that its infinite resources and knowledge will offer peace and tranquility.

Molly Moore makes relaxation sound wonderfully simple on “No Stress” through summery sounds and wise lyricism as she declares “we don’t need to overthink it.” The celebratory horns and light guitars make for a perfect backdrop that’s so easy to get lost within. This track provides a nice contrast to the downtempo nature of “Tough Love” and in turn shows off Moore’s versatility as an artist. On a day where I’m trying to remain centered through all means possible, “No Stress” will undoubtedly be on repeat.

Molly Moore – Tough Love

“Put in the work, sometimes it hurts, can’t give enough, give me tough love.” Molly Moore is laying down straight wisdom on her brand new single. One of the most important conversations of my life came after a major misstep at work as my boss gave me a wakeup call that made me realize my habit of receding and being uncommunicative when things got rough wouldn’t fly in the professional world. It was an uncomfortable moment that situated the greater good above my own perceived needs – in other words, a worldview I hadn’t encountered throughout a previously egocentric lifestyle.

Since then, I’ve become an infinitely better worker and friend who’s insanely committed to those around me. Simply put, tough love strengthened bonds in all aspects of my life. Molly Moore’s single is a perfect complement to that as its methodical and nuanced atmosphere along with her driven vocals echo the necessary process from pain to gain. It’s such a killer track and I can’t wait to hear what she comes up with next.
