I don’t know a ton about The Pharcyde but I do know that every time I find myself listening to them, good vibes are immediately felt. Cut along the same cloth as A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul, it’s soulful Hip Hop at its finest, blending sounds of the new and the old in all the right ways.
The Pharcyde brings the funk. And “Runnin,” released in 1995 is definitely a classic in the truest sense of the word. The Philipians cut a nice instrumental version, and if this won’t get you up and moving this week, you’re in trouble
There comes a time in every mans life when he’s gotta
Handle up on his own can’t depend on friends to
Help you in a squeeze, please they got problems of their own.”
As you get older, you realize (or at least I do) the need to sacrifice some friendships, fun, and time to get anywhere. I guess it’s called manning up, and you gotta do it sooner or later, or else…That shit will just keep coming back to haunt you. You need to run right at it Mike Alstott style.
