You guys have heard me rave about PrototypeRaptor before, and I’m pleased to share with you his latest remix. Part of me wants to save this banger for Friday, but then I remembered that songs shouldn’t necessarily have to be saved for specific days. Everyday should be special, especially in the summer. It’s always hard to write about electronic music because it’s more about the experience than anything else. However,PrototypeRaptorsets himself apart from other electronic artists because of his ability to weld high energy beats with beautiful and sophisticated melodies, sometimes, reminiscent of something you’d hear in a jazz or blues piece.
It’s always a really positive experience when your ears cross paths with a DJ who shows off a strong musical background alongside a good ear. It kind of makes me wonder and hope that more classically trained musicians start directing their attention towards the electronic soundscape. Not that they should stop what they’re doing and start something new, but maybe consider the fact that times are evolving, as is music. I always wonder when I hear artists like this what would happen if classical musicians were to screw around with electronic music.
This track can best be enjoyed walking through somewhere really busy. I first listened to it on my iPod in the middle of Union Square as I was trying to get some groceries. I love listening to electronic music around really large crowds because it kind of settles my neurotic tendencies around masses of people. Just ease in and pretend everyone around you is part of a music video for the song. It works every time.
