The Chainsmokers and Coldplay – Something Just Like This

Well The Chainsmokers are at it again, making dope tracks with dope artists like Coldplay, ya big time, but man do these dudes stay humble.  EMPT has been supporting The Chainsmokers for years now, and regardless of the fact that they have made it big, we are talking Grammy winners, like WTF, I would never stop supporting them because of how fucking humble and cool they are!  Take note artists, don’t ever forget who you are or where you came from, I mean it’s just a Grammy, no biggie 😉 …

So just some cool insider stuff, apparently this collab was a secret for about 3 months, dope!  “This collaboration isn’t a testament to the ideal that anything is possible if you stay focused, passionate and set your mind to something than I don’t know what is!”  This dope new single collab piece as well as Paris, will be on their new upcoming album ‘MEMORIES… DO NOT OPEN’ on April 7th with 10 new tracks just as awesome as this one and oh ya, you can pre-order here if your getting a tickle in your panties (or boxer briefs!)

This track is awesome, extremely relatable on many different levels, great feel that is movie theme worthy for sure, if you weren’t sure about how you were feeling about getting the weekend started I think this will definitely set your mood right.  Thanks guys for sending this jam over to us, always much love!

I happen to be in LA right now visiting my Man/lova/BFF, and grinding on some musical creativity.  I am missing NYC but sometimes in the name of love we need to do things outside of our immediate comfort zone.  The dudes of the infamous Chainsmokers, Alex & Drew slithered their way into my inbox the other day and I am thinking, guys, Christmas isn’t for another couple months! HA.. But seriously I couldn’t wait to post this today, it’s a perfect Friday track for all your pre-gaming, feel good, sex motivating needs.  Need I say more, I think not, for this sexy duo has made my work easy today, so without further ado:

Note from them: We normally have worked with artists that could be considered more alternative or indie, but truth be told we make music not only because we love it, but because we want it to be heard by as many ppl as possible. We will never compromise The Chainsmokers sound in our production but this was a fantastic chance to expose ourselves to an entirely new fan base, both in size and in music taste. We always said, we love pop, we love indie, and we love dance, and sometimes one of them is more prevalent but we always try and find that balance. So we think in this track we created a beautifully fun and easy remix that like chewable vitamins, is good for you and goes down easy no matter your preference….

All boy band jokes aside, we made a kick-ass remix for the insanely popular British boy band The Wanted. After-all, we are a pseudo-boy band too, so we gotta stick together… or something…

Like I said, need I say more?  It’s only early afternoon here in LA, but I feel like I want to go get my Friday night started, I mean shit, it’s already 5pm in NY so it’s safe to say that it’s “5’oclock somewhere”!!

Did some one say The Chainsmokers, and it’s Thursday?! Yup it’s Thursday and you know what that means, the weekend has officially started and what would the weekend be without a little Chainsmoker love.  Once again I open my email and out comes a this sexy track and it slaps me right on the ass, but you know what…I liked it! Alex and Drew definitely made some sweet love to this already stella track, and I mean isn’t that what Summer is all about, making sweet love over and over and over again.  Wow, sorry I think I lost myself there for a split second, so without further ado (before I get too off track), the dudes themselves have a little explaining to do:

Quick Rundown on its making:
ASTR shot us the stems and the song came together really fast. With amazing vocals and instrumentation like in the original, this song was sorta true to the expression dont try to teach an old dog new tricks…. the song was already so full, so we weren’t trying to revolutionize it, even stripped of its instrumental it had class, it was really just a matter of finding sounds that were simple. We see our remixes as always being these colorful emotional experiences and this whole song is this dark plush sponge of red, and once we found our sounds, within an hour the melody was set, and it was just a question of pouring sand into a bottle of rocks (PS way to many metaphors in that description).”
The NYC Dj/Production Duo, The Chainsmoker’s, Drew and Alex have recently headlined Marquee Dayclub in Vegas and BangON music Festival. There last three remixes went #1 on HypeMachine and have some big plans for upcoming material. Winding down from what has been an interesting birthday week I must say I was pleased to find this gem in my inbox Monday morning.  I recently saw Alex and Drew at for a brunch party @ The Highline Ballroom in the Meatpacking district and they made me eat a tequila worm….Ok ok, they didn’t make me, I of course being a fun crazy little vixen did it willingly, but man I forgot how much of a riot being around them and their energy is.  I love seeing people after you haven’t seen them in a year or two, and nothing has changed, still beautiful fun loving people.  There are always people in our lives who are going to judge us, make us feel like we can’t be ourselves, give you a hard time.  And then there are the people that will lift you up, show you loyalty and allow you to be exactly who you want to be at all times, happy, sad, it don’t matter!

It’s important to remember that we are all crazy, lovely, unique human beings all bound up in our own special packages.  Summer is here and you can definitely feel it in the air.  Summer is not the time to take judgement on people, especially your friends, you should never live in fear to be yourself around the people you work with and play with and I am certainly not.  This remix gave me that feeling and a happy energy that I so badly needed, so with further ado here is a word from my crazy dudes:

So, we would like to take a moment to explain why we think this is our best song to date, but the answer is fairly simple…. We always preach about trying to make music that is a beautiful blend of Pop, Indie and Progressive, which isn’t always possible, but we feel like this time, we did it…. So yet again our friends The Chainsmokers have hit us with a banger remix and I feel like it couldn’t be better timing.  Selfishly I feel like it was a birthday present to me since it happens to be in exactly one week..I guess it was just a simple twist of fate since my Taurus bro Alex was brought into this world just a couple days after me, but enough about that!  Summer is basically here and being over on the East Coast means shit is about to pop off.  People start smiling, girls let their hair down, throw away their morals and all we want to do is listen to uplifting jams like this one.  It’s no question that we are avid listeners of Phoenix here at EMPT, with the chill, feel good pop tempo and the vocal/lyric combination gives us a perfect taste of Summer.  Before I get ahead of myself who better to explain this awesome mix then the boys themselves, Alex & Drew:

I have definitely been getting an OVERDOSE thrown at me of irrational opinions and perspectives, but it’s definitely been giving me some good material to write about musically, so cheers to that, pour me a double while you’re at it!  Speaking of overdosing, guess who popped back into our lives rather quickly?  The Chainsmokers, those sneaky devils, and no I am not complaining at all, throwing my shirt in the air and thinking about running down the street topless is more like it, HA!  I was really excited to open up my personal inbox yesterday only to find yet another wonderful remix from my dudes!  We get so much love here at EMPT and that’s because we like to give it back like it ain’t no thang, you feel me?!!  I watched an interview recently with Chase Jarvis and Ryan Holiday, talking about Ryan’s new book coming out in July called “Trust Me I’m Lying, Confessions of a Media Manipulator”.  So long story short they were talking about his success at such a young age and among the many wise comments that were made throughout this interview (watch it!), here is the one that stuck with me; “You need to meet people where they are.” Wise, so wise, makes so much sense because that’s really what it’s all about in accomplishing anything, don’t expect anything from anyone, show people what you can give them.  I am getting too excited about too many things right now, so before I go off on a tangent, Alex and Drew, two guys that seem to know the meaning of “meeting people where they are”, have something special for you and some words of their own:

‘Overdose came about cause we heard Little Daylight’s song at a party & we looked them up and shot them an email & were thrilled when they were into the idea as they were looking for someone to do a more up-tempo remix. So we thought about it & wanted to make the song very warm and with uplifting chords and chop the vocal up a bit and we’ve been really into this indie progressive mesh of sound that drops but is more animated. Then we thought instead of the usual house structure we would do something a bit funkier and keep the song evolving as it unfolds, so it starts out a bit simple with the vocals bleeding in over some warm drums but then end in this entirely different place’

Little Backstory:

The Chainsmokers who are coming off their Official Two Door Cinema Club Remix – Sleep Alone which reached #2 on HypeM are releasing their 3rd remix this year for Little Daylight.  The duo are spinning at Electro Beach Festival this Saturday 3/16/13 in Puerto Vallarta AND They would also like to point out they have an unhealthy rivalry and are very competitive. For example, Drew tried to poison Alex once after losing a game of Call of Duty, no joke #TeamDrew.”

SLEEPS ALONE

I happened to be browsing through our submissions today, come to find this dope gem from our friends The Chainsmokers.  I met these dudes Alex and Drew a couple years ago when EMPT was linking up with them for events and such, love these guys, so much fun. Since then The Chainsmokers have become a popular party DJ duo (I mean they always have been, HA) all over the world.  It’s pretty great to see your friends successes, I couldn’t be happier for these guys, especially for how crazy this music biz is, and believe me it’s CRAZY.  There are always people trying to crush your dreams, tell you your not good enough and trash your well being.

Jealousy man, it’s a sad and disgusting disease, and I am not talking about the kind of jealousy where you see your ex with another person or your friend just snagged those shoes you can’t afford, that’s normal.  I am talking about the type of jealousy where a persons emotions turn into rage and all they want to do is hurt you because they are so unhappy with who they are that they take out all of their stress and insecurities on the people who care about them the most.  It’s very sad how people will create so much hate and negativity in their heads, normally these are people who are the closest to you weirdly enough.  Once you start making progress the accusations start flying, the excuses, the blame.  I mean hell your always going to have haters, but they hate at a distance and as an artist you need to love your haters and your critics as you would love your lovers because it’s only more attention to your artistic craft, a fuel for your determination to succeed.  But when that hate turn to jealous rage and people are trying to tear you down and keep you from succeeding, well that’s the disease I am talking about.  I wish I could say that I have never had to deal with these kinds of people but I have and I will never understand what it’s like to have this disease and want to hurt someone so terribly.  I could never be this person, I am a loyal lover to those I care about, even the ones that hurt me.  Why you might ask, because hating anyone for who they are and their successes, their downfalls, whatever it may be take up too much energy.

All I can really say is thank you, thank you to those who have tried to tear me down, thank you to those who have done this to others, because hopefully you can look at it and handle it the way I do and make you push harder for what you love.

Disguised in the form of parties, the events have caused a disruption in the system by redefining the establishments restrictive definition of taste and entertainment. The year is 2010, the Space Age, the battles between The Industry and the people are intensifying and hurling the era toward drastic change.
